31 1/2"  by 9" mahogany column bases

First of four bases.  Used 3" faceplate with 3/4" of plywood extending it to 28".  Since the plywood wasn't turning true I added 3/4" maple to the edges and turned the surface true.  Mounted the first 5" thick ring to final dimensions.  Before I started turning I statically balanced the piece with pieces of angle iron as weights.  Glued on the second ring and finished and then the finial ring.   By statically balancing the piece there was no vibration.   I built the out rigger to hold the tool rest.
