8" by 55" maple stain grade column using bird mouth construction. It was turned completly with the 3" roughing gouge from Oneway.
The column has been mounted on the 1800 Legacy to cut out a quarter of the column. The left side of the saw blade aligns with center of the dead and live ends. The saw is screwed to the base.

First cut has been made. On the left is the other 3/4 column. I used glue blocks on the staves as insurance against glue joint failure years from now. Probably not necessary but it was a concern of the customer.

This column had to slide under a self molding that extended 1/4" below the shelf. I turned both ends so that the end of the column would be 3/8" below the base edge. Now the column has 1/4" clearance from the shelf molding and top end can be raised and glued in place.
