Two pairs of fluted half columns. These were turned from 10/4 Honduras Mahogany. These 4.25" by 50" half columns were glued up as two halves of a 4.5" by 54" blank. Only the last inch was glued and a drop of glue every 5" between the ends. Blank was rounded and the ends turned on the lathe. Then the blank was moved the Legacy 1500 and the rest was milled to 3". Blank was then moved back to the 3520A and finished sanded to 220 grit and the ends parted down to 1 1/2". Again back to the Legacy and the flutes were milled and finished sanded to 220 grit. Ends were cut off and sanded slightly concave so when they are put on the bases only the outer edge touches the base. While not difficult technically to do there is a lot of pressure because it is usually impossible to correct any mistakes and you have to start over. Mistakes are called designer firewood.
