One thing about this business is you never know what will come in the door.  I have 24 of the 8" by 8" by 6' posts to turn.  They are from fir which is very bad about tearout.  Then I do 12 of the finials from mahogany and they are 4.25" by 11".  The originals were done in poplar and rotted out in 5 years.  And finally one chess piece from maple.
