This is the sander that I use after some sanding.  It won't take out big ridges.  It will de-fuzz and take out sanding scratches.  Notice it is on a bit of an angle to be able to follow a right-handed cut angle.  I have used it on left hand and it is still quite effective.

Note.  He user a old washing machine motor which is 1/2 HP and 1750 RPM.  Art

My version of Mikes sander.  Uses hickory slides.
